The Period and HMA period are the most important ones. I typically use a period of of 11 (I prefer the MFI to react faster) and an HMA period of 25. The Overbought and oversold levels are useful but think they are often dependent on the instrument. For example, gold and US30 tend to go up, therefore I use an overbought level of 80 and oversold of 35.

TIP: I like having 2 or 3 instances of the indicator, D, h4 and h1 to have a good visual indication of how each timeframe is behaving
