For normal market structure, most traders keep the swing length around 5.
This gives a good balance ,it filters small noise but still shows clean BOS and CHoCH. That’s why it’s the default for intraday trading.

If you’re scalping or trading session kill zones, you reduce the swing length to 2–3.
This lets the indicator react to micro structure moves, so BOS and CHoCH form faster. It’s useful around London and NY opens, but you’ll see more signals, so execution and risk control matter more.

If you’re swing trading, you increase the swing length to 8–10.
This ignores intraday noise and focuses only on major structure shifts, which is better for higher timeframes like H1, H4, or Daily.
