cTrader XAUUSD Grid Bot Parameters
Chart Settings
Parameter
Value
Description
Symbol
XAUUSD
Gold trading pair.
Timeframe
M1
The bot runs on the 1-minute chart.
General Trading Settings
Volume In Lots
Default: 0.01
The size of the initial trade.
Daily Target (%)
Default: 1.0
This is not a take-profit.
Once the account reaches the specified daily profit (1% by default), the bot activates a trailing stop instead of closing immediately.
Example:
Daily Target = 1%
Trailing Distance = 20 pips
If profit reaches 1%, the trailing stop is placed 20 pips behind the current price, allowing profits to continue growing while protecting against a reversal.
Trailing Stop Distance (Pips)
Default: 20
Determines how much room the market has to move after the daily target has been reached before positions are closed.
This value was chosen after years of testing and has proven to be one of the most efficient settings, although you are free to experiment.
Entry Signals
Signal Period
Default: 8
The number of previous candles the bot analyzes to determine an entry signal.
Higher Timeframe Signal Period
Default: 8
The number of candles analyzed on the higher timeframe confirmation.
Higher Timeframe Signal Timeframe
Default: 0
Selects which higher timeframe will be used to confirm trades.
The bot will only enter a trade when both the current timeframe and the higher timeframe signals agree.
This generally produces:
Higher-quality entries
Fewer trades
Higher Timeframe Signal Mode
Default: 0
Enables or disables higher timeframe confirmation (True/False depending on your version).
ATR Period
Default: 3
The number of candles used to calculate the Average True Range (ATR), which determines grid spacing.
Grid Settings
Grid 1 Volume
Default: 0.01
Lot size for the first grid position.
Normally this matches the initial trade size.
Grid 1 Spacing ATR Multiplier
Default: 1.5
Determines how far price must move against the position before another grid trade is opened.
The spacing equals:
ATR × 1.5
Higher values create fewer but more widely spaced grid positions.
Grid 1 Maximum Size
Default: 8
Maximum number of grid positions the bot is allowed to open.
Grid 1 Scaling Start Level
Default: 1
Defines from which grid position the bot begins increasing lot sizes.
Example:
Level 1 = increase immediately
Level 3 = keep the first two positions equal, then start increasing.
Grid 1 Volume Step
Default: 0.01
How much the lot size increases at each scaling level.
Example:
Position 1 = 0.01
Position 2 = 0.02
Position 3 = 0.03
...
Grid 1 Second Scaling Level
Default: 8
Allows a second change in position sizing later in the grid.
Example:
Positions 1–4 increase normally.
From Position 5 onward, you may:
continue increasing,
keep size constant,
or even decrease the lot size.
This provides much more flexibility in risk management.
Grid 1 Second Volume Step
Default: 0.0
Defines how much to increase or decrease lot sizes after the Second Scaling Level.
Positive values increase size.
Negative values decrease size.
Trading Schedule
Pause Duration
Default: 0
How long the bot waits before trading again after reaching the Daily Target.
Normally, the bot simply resumes trading on the next trading day.
Pause Unit
Determines whether the Pause Duration is measured in hours or days.
Trading Sessions
You may define up to three trading windows.
Example:
Session 1
00:00 → 08:00
Session 2
17:00 → 20:50
Session 3
Optional
If you only want one trading session, simply repeat the same schedule in all three windows (or leave unused sessions disabled if your version allows it).
Trade on Mondays
Default: False
Allows you to disable trading on Mondays if desired.
RSI Filters
Use RSI for Initial Trade
Uses the RSI filter before opening the first trade.
RSI Period
Default: 14
Number of candles used for RSI calculation.
RSI Overbought
Default: 70
Market is considered overbought above this level.
RSI Oversold
Default: 30
Market is considered oversold below this level.
Higher Timeframe Filters
Use Higher TF Signal for Initial Trade
Requires higher timeframe confirmation before opening the first position.
Use Higher TF Signal for Grid
Applies higher timeframe confirmation to additional grid entries.
Grid Entry Filters
Use Signal for Grid 1
Requires the trading signal before adding another grid position.
Use RSI for Grid 1
Applies the RSI filter to new grid positions.
Risk Management
Stop Loss Drawdown (%)
Default: 100
This is the bot's only true stop-loss mechanism.
The trailing stop described earlier is not designed to limit losses. Its purpose is only to protect profits once the Daily Target has been reached.
The Stop Loss Drawdown Percent defines the maximum account drawdown at which the bot will force all positions to close.
Label
Used only to identify trades placed by the bot. It has no effect on the trading strategy itself.
Recommended Default Settings
These are the settings I personally use after extensive testing:
Initial Lot Size: 0.01
Daily Target: 1%
Trailing Stop: 20 pips
Signal Period: 8
ATR Period: 3
Grid Spacing: 1.5 × ATR
Maximum Grid Positions: 8
RSI: 14 / 70 / 30
Higher Timeframe Confirmation: Enabled for initial trades
Grid Confirmation: Signal only
Stop Loss Drawdown: 100%
These defaults have provided a good balance between trade frequency, profitability, and risk in my testing. However, market conditions change over time, so always test any modifications thoroughly before using them on a live account.

Hi I am buying Your bot . I have several [uestions about it.
How many accounts can be attached?
How about future
updates, are they included?
Do I get something different then demo version?
Can I pay it instalments?
Can I rent it before I buy it?- GGauchoHood
Hi Mate, so I believe that as long as your accounts are in the same login of the Ctrader enviroment, you will be able to use it in all your accounts. Regarding updates, they are free, I am preparing some extra features for September, that I am testing right now.
The behaviour is the same as demo, only difference is that it will allow live trading. Regarding payment methods, I do not control that, it is managed by Ctrader Store. No rentals for now, sorry.
Do not hesitate to contact, it takes sometime for me to be able to see your message Ctrader review messages before publishing, but I will respond as soon as I get notified. Good trading- Ggeorgievski_office
Hi Gaucho. thanks for Your answer. I hope You will answer faster in the future. After 2 months demo testing I bot Your bot. Can You send some of your setting for it, that you used on life accounts? If not please send settings that you used on demo that you recommend. I now that you cannot guarantee anything for future trading . Thanks in advance

Hi, would you be using these parameters in a strong bearish market? As from what i could gather, the bot wont open a selling trade? (I have been playing around with RSI overbought and oversold) without much luck.
(Will your September updates be sent to the people that have purchased the bot?)

Hi Ricardo. I keep my comunications about the products within this section, so we have the Ctrader overrsight of any issues. Please feel free to ask. Disclaimer, this is not finance advice, trade is risky, past performance is not guarantee of future results

Hi Gaucho. The bot is configured in its demo version to close trades at 9:00 PM. Which timeframe does it refer to? My system's time? The broker's server time? Thanks in advance.
- GGauchoHood
Gmt. London time. But this will not Close trades, it it is not meant to open new trades outside the trading windows. Once a trade is opened, it will keep that trading cycle alive until is resolved, this bot does not close trades unless the profit target is reached or a reversal against the trade is detected. And it will not close losing trades until recovery of the Basket is complete. Let me know if it is clear, I know this part can get a little complicated
- Cctid11181985
Yes, understood. And what happens if, for whatever reason, I close the operations manually?
- CIn reply tosystem⬆:ctid11181985
Hi Gaucho.
Two questions:
-
How important is the account leverage? I'm testing the demo with 1:30 and it's working very well, but I think I saw a leverage of 1:500?
-
When you buy the product, is the default configuration the same as the demo version?
Thanks in advance.
- GGauchoHood
So regarding the leverage, if you are operating with a small account like 1000 usd a leverage of 30 would mot allow you to open enough grid positions. As every position would consume about 150 usd, very soon you will have no marging for grids. The best settings I have tested are in one of the coments below, where I gave the participant the scheleton of a set file. Although markets change, and as we can see right now gold is not moving as usual, so remember this is not financial advice, this is a script that.is capable of doing automated trading, but there 8s no guarantee of profit, never invest money you can not lose, and the fact.it worked before does mot mean it will work tomorrow. That said, this is one of the most efficient gold traders I have ever seen anywhere! But Gold is dangerous, in War timrs?... anything can happen. Happy trading
- Cctid11181985
How much do you estimate would be needed for that 1:30? Thanks

Hello ive been testing the demo version and it only executes buys, does the full version executes sell/buy or only buys.
Will the product be getting updates in the future?
What would be the minimum capital to start with?
Thanks.- GGauchoHood
This is not financial advice, settings are here.for demo and educational purposes.
So if you look down this thread, there is a full set file, ready to be copied and saved so you can use. It is not entering sell probably because of rsi settings. Take a look. Good tradin
- Aanthonyfeliciana
before making a decision on purchasing it,what is the difference from the demo to the full product.
By this can you confirm that it executes sell orders?- GGauchoHood
There is no difference. It will only allow you to use it in a live account. Regarding buys and sells, Yes it operates both directions. But make sure you make the right tests in demo first untill you understand the system, and only then buy the real one. As you need to have some knowledge to operate your own system. Still remeber, trading is risky, only invest money you can lose! Good trading

Hey Gaucho,
I’m just wondering how to alter the settings for lot sizes.
I have a set lot size but once my capital increases the bot automatically places another trade which is fine but it increases lot sizes too, how do I change so only the one lot sizes is locked.
My broker is strict with margins etc hence why I want only the one lot sizes once my capital increases.
Thank you.
- GGauchoHood
On all the "volume Steps" you put Zero. So your grid volume and initial volume should not change. Please leave us a 5 star review, it helps to keep us motivated in helping others to achieve success. And share for what are you using the bot at the moment so I can use good stories to promote my channel. Thank you.
This is not financial advice, the coments on this thread are for educational purposes only!Thank you, yes I have left review.
I’m using default settings but RSI overbought and sold 70/30, and I select YES use RSI for initial trade, works well for me at the moment, but I don’t trade Monday or Friday and during high impact news.
I am trailing out other settings during this war event, works well but would work better with SL implemented.

- In reply toGauchoHood⬆:
Hi GauchoHood,
I began testing on demo with the default settings, and I'd like to understand the grid system behavior better.
What happened:
- The bot opened 6 BUY positions on XAUUSD (grid levels activated)
- Entry prices: 4140.63, 4136.39, 4129.77, 4126.23, 4121.01, 4113.22
- All positions closed together at 4110.10 for a combined loss
- This happened around 21:32 GMT on 23/10/2025
Settings used:
- Volume (Lots): 0.01
- Daily Target: 1%
- Trailing Stop Distance: 20 pips
- Signal Period: 15
- Higher TF Signal Period: 10
- Higher TF Signal Timeframe: Minute15
- Higher TF Signal Mode: Entry
- ATR Period: 3
- Grid 1 Volume: 0.01
- Grid 1 Spacing ATR Multiplier: 2.05
- Grid 1 Max Size: 8
- Grid 1 Scaling Start Level: 1
- Grid 1 Volume Step: 0.01
- Grid 1 Second Scaling Level: 6
- Grid 1 Second Volume Step: 0
Questions:
- What is the recommended initial deposit for this bot?
- Is the grid system behavior I experienced (6 positions averaging down) normal and expected?
- Should I reduce Grid 1 Max Size from 8 for safer trading on smaller accounts?
- What's a realistic Stop Loss Drawdown Percent to set?
- Which trading time windows work best to avoid these drawdown situations?
- Should I enable the RSI and Higher TF signal filters to reduce entries during unfavorable conditions?
- What broker spread is optimal for this bot?
- What does "Grid 1 Scaling Start Level: 1" mean - does this start averaging down immediately on the first opposing move?
I want to make sure I'm using the bot correctly and safely. I'm continuing to test on demo while waiting for your guidance.
Looking forward to your recommendations!
- GGauchoHood
Hi
First of all, I want to sincerely apologize for the late reply. There seems to have been a glitch, as I check this section many times a day and could never see your message before. I’m very sorry about that.
Please note before we start:
This information is for educational and testing purposes only. It is not financial advice. There is no guarantee that any settings will be profitable. Algorithmic trading is risky and you can lose all your invested capital. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
I began testing on demo with the default settings to understand the grid system behavior better.
What happened:
• The bot opened 6 BUY positions on XAUUSD (grid levels activated)
• Entry prices: 4140.63, 4136.39, 4129.77, 4126.23, 4121.01, 4113.22
• All positions closed together at 4110.10 for a combined loss
• This was around 21:32 GMT on 23/10/2025
This likely happened because of the low liquidity gap around that time.
Recommended adjustments and notes (again, not financial advice):
• Try setting the trading time windows to 00:00–12:00 and 15:00–20:00 GMT to avoid low-liquidity periods.
• Initial deposit: around 1000 USD recommended for default settings, or 300 USD if you reduce Grid 1 Max Size to 4.
• Grid 1 Max Size: 8 by default, can be reduced to 4 for smaller accounts.
• Stop Loss Drawdown %: grid bots generally do not work well with strict stop losses. Consider this setting as a survival limit, not a trading signal. If you set it below 60%, it is likely to trigger early and make the system unprofitable.
• The stop loss feature should only define the maximum loss you are willing to accept, not an active strategy.
• Use RSI 70/30 and Higher Timeframe filters for entries. However, I do not recommend using RSI directly for grid positions because it can be too restrictive and delay the grid process.
• ATR Period: you can try changing it from 3 to 8.
• Grid 1 Spacing ATR Multiplier: try reducing from 2.05 to 1.5.
• Signal Period: try 2 instead of 15.
• Higher TF Signal Period: try 8
• Higher TF Signal Timeframe: try 1 (M1).
• Higher TF Signal Mode: Entry.
• Broker: I personally use IC Markets because of the lower spread on XAUUSD, but this is not an endorsement or a guarantee of results. Always choose a broker that suits your own testing.
• “Grid 1 Scaling Start Level: 1” means that the bot starts increasing the lot size (according to the lot step) from the first level. You can later increase or reduce the step to control exposure.
Remember:
These are just my personal testing parameters. There is no guarantee of profitability, and you should only test on demo until you fully understand how the system behaves under different conditions.
Algorithmic trading involves substantial risk, and you can lose all your invested capital.
This is not financial advice, and any examples mentioned are for demonstration purposes only.

is the price 10k?
- GGauchoHood
Hi Darth, yes, we had a limited offer, but as you probably know, if we have 100s of bots operating similarly it is likely the strategy will not work as well anymore, so we got to be a little more selective from now. As I suspect my bot is being used to be copied on the platform too, which is fine by me, as whoever bought it can do whatever they like, it is just that if everyone do the same at the same time it gets tricky, the price option is to protect the strategy to be too crowded. You can always copy the accounts that use it, without having to pay the initial costs, My version, funny enough, is going through recovery right now, so it is not a good momment to enter, but WOKA WOKA, is using a older version and is doing really well. Feel free to copy on Demo or LIVE and enjoy it. Just remeber, trading is risky, and you can lose all your money, this is not financial advice.

Hi GauchoHood,
I just purchased Gaucho Gold Scalper and excited to get started!
Questions:
- What is the recommended initial deposit for this bot?
- What settings do you recommend as a starting point?
- Should I limit the Grid1MaxSize for safer trading?
- What's a realistic StopLossDrawdownPercent to set?
- Which trading time windows work best currently?
- Should I enable RSI and Higher TF signal filters?
- What broker spread is optimal for this bot?
I'm starting on demo first. Looking forward to your guidance!
